NXTGEN is working with a long-standing and growing accountancy practice in Bury St Edmunds to recruit a Payroll Senior to join their small but experienced and enthusiastic payroll team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with end-to-end payroll experience, whether gained in industry or within a bureau environment, who's looking for a broad and all-encompassing role with real scope to grow and progress as they wish.

As Payroll Senior, you'll take ownership of a varied portfolio of clients, managing all aspects of their payroll processing while also having the chance to get involved in wider payroll projects alongside Senior staff, too. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of clients, including weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls
  • Calculate and process statutory payments including SSP, SMP, and SPP
  • Administer auto-enrolment pension schemes and ensure compliance with regulations
  • Handle payroll queries from clients and HMRC, providing timely and accurate responses
  • Process starters and leavers, including P45s and P60s
  • Support with year-end procedures and submissions
  • Keep up to date with payroll legislation and contribute to process improvements where possible

What the client is looking for:

  • Previous experience in end-to-end payroll, gained in either industry or a bureau/practice environment
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation and statutory requirements
  • Confident working with payroll software
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills with this being a client-focused role
  • Team player who is proactive and enjoys what they do!
